What is inside the Field Guide?
The Basketball Pathway Field Guide explains the paperwork around a basketball career in plain words: a college offer, name, image and likeness (NIL) deals, contracts, agents and overseas contracts. Each chapter starts with a short answer, gives the idea, the reason it matters and steps to follow, then shows three made-up practice scenarios. It ends with a recap and a short "Do this week" list where every step has a time limit and a finish line.
The back of the book adds a 30-day action plan, blank worksheets and scripts you can copy onto paper or a spreadsheet, a glossary, image credits, and the list of official sources with the date each was checked.
What are the 12 chapters?
- Is this the whole offer? How to read a college basketball offer end to end page 7

- What must a college athlete report about outside NIL deals? page 23
- How do you read any basketball contract, one clause at a time? page 28
- What are the red flags that should make you slow down? page 33

Who is this guide for?
Players at every stage
High school players can begin with Chapters 1 to 7. Players finishing college or weighing pro options can begin with Chapters 7 to 12.
Parents and guardians
Chapters 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are the most useful first reads: the whole offer, outside NIL deals, contract clauses, red flags and who may represent a player.
No background in contracts or sports law is needed. Anyone who wants to learn the business side of basketball can use it.
What do you get with the purchase?
- 77 pages in one PDF you can read on a phone, tablet or computer, or print.
- 12 chapters that each end with a recap and a timed "Do this week" list.
- A 30-day plan that spreads those steps across four weeks of about one hour each.
- Worksheets and scripts in an appendix, ready to copy.
- Sources with dates, so you can check each rule at its official source.
Drafts of the chapters were written with the help of an AI model and then reviewed and edited by the author. Rules and facts were checked against the official sources listed at the end of the book. The practice scenarios are made up and do not describe real people or the author's past work.
