Saudi Arabia basketball leagues

Checked 2026-10-31FIBA code KSA

The federation lists a men's Premier League and a men's First Division, plus a women's championship, in its 2026-27 competition regulations. The Premier League is split into two internal tiers of teams, and results decide which tier a club plays in next season. The regulations text I could read gives no promotion or relegation rule between the First Division and the Premier League.

Source for league names and 14 teams is the federation 2026-27 competition regulations PDF (Arabic, annex). Women's championship is named in the same annex (article م1/2) but no team count, so women's league is not yet verified beyond its existence. The player status regulations (2026) require federation approval to register a non-Saudi player but set no numeric limit; limits are left to seasonal instructions I could not open, so foreign_player_rule is null. The federation season year runs 1 Aug to 31 Jul per article 4 of the player status regulations (https://saudi.basketball/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%A6%D8%AD%D8%A9-%D8%A3%D9%88%D8%B6%D8%A7%D8%B9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%B9%D8%A8%D9%8A%D9%86-%D9%84%D9%84%D8%AA%D8%B9%D9%85%D9%8A%D9%85-2026.pdf); this is the registration year, not the playing months, so league season is left null. FIBA lists the federation site as sbl.sa, which I could not open.

Rules change each season and clubs apply them differently. Confirm any figure with the league or federation before you rely on it. This is education, not legal or tax advice. See a figure that is out of date? Send a correction with the source link.
